The Rural American Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting rural America. RAI exists to nurture human flourishing, celebrate cultivated growth, and protect the public good.

How we got here:
Martin Luther King Jr. – March 31, 1968
“The world in which we live is geographically one… Through our scientific and technological genius we have made of this world a neighborhood, and yet we have not had the ethical commitment to make of it a brotherhood.”

What we do:
We connect artists, farmers, rural manufacturers, agricultural entrepreneurs, and organizations and individuals interested in cultivating sustainable growth in their communities with the tools, resources, and networks they need to create lasting success.

Many of the most pressing challenges confronting 21st century rural America are problems born of neglect, not malice. Giving your attention to the plights of people you may never encounter, living in places you may never visit, is both a gift and a privilege. We are grateful to have your attention.

We welcome all to join our network of friends, patrons & supporters. Partners and long-term clients are selected based upon meaningful, shared values and the potential for mutual benefit. If you or your organization are interested in collaborating within RAI’s structured framework, please submit a project inquiry.
